How to Draw A Snake – Let's get Started
Step 1
As you might imagine, there will be a good deal of curvy lines in this guide on how to draw a snake.
This first step is no exception, and we shall kick things off with a very curvy line that will be the basis for the body of your snake. The reference image will be a guide on how this line should look.
Step 2 – Draw in some more of the snake's body
Using the line you drew in the previous step, we shall be drawing on more of the body for your snake drawing.
Starting at the end of the line at the right-hand side, draw in another line that follows the direction of the first one to make the body of the snake looking as it does in the reference image.
Step 3 – Now, start to draw the head
Now that you have the body of your snake, we shall draw in a face for your snake drawing in this step.
You can start off with some large oval shapes to give your snake some big eyes. Then, use a curved line coming from the eye on the right down to the body that you drew in the previous step.
Step 4 – Next, give your snake a belly
In this step of our guide on how to draw a snake, we shall add in a belly for your snake.
Starting from the bottom of the head, draw a line inside the body until you get around three-quarters of the way along the body.
Once you have it looking as it does in the picture, you're ready for the next step.
Step 5 – Now, draw in some face details
Your snake drawing needs some personality, so let's add facial details in this image to give it some!
We will be adding a few details in this step. The main one will be some big pupils for the eyes. You could also change the look of the eyes to change the facial expression.
We will then use some curved lines to give the face some nostrils, and then finally draw in a forked tongue coming out of the mouth.
Step 6 – Add some finishing touches
For step 6 of our guide on how to draw a snake, we shall add in some last details before moving on to the coloring stage.
The main details will be on the belly of your snake. Draw some horizontal lines all along the belly section that you drew in earlier.
Then you can add in some last, final details to give your snake drawing even more personality! We added a few lines, and did some crosshatching details on the body of the snake.
You can make this crosshatching mark by drawing four lines intersecting with each other. They will look a bit like the pattern you would play tic tac toe in.
This mark can help to give some scaly texture to your snake drawing. These are the details we chose for this drawing, but you should add in any extra fun details that you would like for your drawing!
Step 7 – Finish off your snake drawing with some color
